Best Security Practices for Your Golden Years softcover book
“This is a guide that should be required reading for any senior touching a computer. And if the AARP was a bit more proactive, they’d buy copies for all of their members.” -Ben Rothke, Information Security Expert and Author
As a cybersecurity expert that presents on TV and security conferences regularly, Scott Schober has seen an alarmingly disproportionate number of seniors being digitally coerced, targeted and robbed through the same Internet that we all share.
“Should be sent to every senior citizen using a computer.” -Roger A. Grimes, Data-Driven Defense Evangelist, KnowBe4, Inc.

Easy to Read, Easy to Understand
I have an 80 year old father who calls me with every single computer and cyber security question he has. I tell him to watch tutorial videos or look for a book but nothing has worked until now. I bought this book for him and confess I read it first. I am also not great with computers, its my husband who’s the literal computer genius. This book is so easy to read with its larger print and even better, easy to understand. It’s detailed and thourough in its explanations of everything from email phishing scams to protecting your healthcare information. The best part, as my father, a former educator said, “its great because it’s not condescending. I don’t feel like I’m being talked down to.” Buy this for all the computer using seniors in your life! Can’t recommend this enough. In fact, I’m about to buy a second copy for my Mother.

very easy-to-read
I really enjoyed this book. Even though I’m not yet a senior… Although AARP seems to think so, I learned a few things from this book. One of the most important things really is having a mindset that there are bad people out there trying to take it advantage of you. This is presented both through examples and through stories. I particularly enjoyed the stories involving the Schober’s grandfather.
The book is written in a very easy-to-read style with fun cartoons at the beginning of each chapter. It’s also full of references to agencies and organizations to which one can report scams or seek answers to questions.
What i you really think it’s notable is the tone of compassion that it was written in. There’s never a hint of condescension to a person of a certain age. The world, and especially the CyberWorld are very very complicated and it seems to me that every area is covered and that the information is very much up-to-date.
